Building a rubric begins with choosing from one of the hundreds of elementary and secondary courses available. Next, choose general and specific student expectations associated with that course. For example, one of the available courses is Grade 9 music and it is linked to the specific expectation, "Explain the evolution of musical notation." Once we have chosen the expectations we may now choose from a variety of criteria. We might continue by selecting the criteria, "explain concept clearly" and "explain information gathered through research".
The Rubric Builder will automatically create four levels of achievement or performance for your selected criteria. Continuing the example above, these might read "explanation of information is based on limited research" through to "explanation of information is based on thorough research".
After reviewing and editing if necessary, the last step is to print your new rubric. We also offer the option of exporting to either Word or WordPerfect.
